EMMETT, Idaho (CBS2) — The Emmett woman facing charges in connection with the death of an eight-year-old appeared in court on Thursday.
Gem County Magistrate Judge Tyler Smith heard her request for a bond reduction and ultimately denied it. Her bond will remain at $800,000.
During the hearing, Smith and her defense counsel requested her preliminary hearing be reset. The judge set the new date for July 6 at 2 pm. She had previously waived her right to a speedy preliminary hearing.
Smith is facing one count of failure to notify of a corpse, and one count of felony destruction of evidence. She is the grandmother of an 8-year-old girl who was found dead inside a trash bag in a vehicle in April.
