Long time analyst Skip Bayless is known for his heated debates and endless rants, especially when either LeBron James makes any mistakes or when his Dallas Cowboys stumble in their goal of winning a Super Bowl. A longtime fan of America’s team, he is now resorting to the WNBA, and specifically Caitlin Clark, to give him some respite in terms of sporting excitement.
The 72-year-old analyst took to his The Skip Bayless Show, to talk about all things sports. When discussing the state of his favorite NFL team, he said:
I’m seeing Caitlin Clark emerge as an extraordinary professional basketball player. Highest risk, highest reward. I'm actually ok with those record shattering turnovers. I'm actually ok with the logo threes that so often miss. I look more forward to watching the Indiana Fever than I do my Dallas Cowboys.Skip Bayless on watching Caitlin Clark
He might be right in switching over to the WNBA to watch the rookie destroy opponents, as his Dallas Cowboys have only frustrated him so far.
In fact, during the first half hour of his show, he ranted about how his favorite NFL team was making it difficult for him to watch them. Before last season, he had predicted during his time with Undisputed that they had everything they need to be successful. But their offseason work so far has disappointed him.
That prompted him to switch to the WNBA, and especially Caitlin Clark. He does mention that he initially had Angel Reese as the Rookie of the Year favorite. But now, he is switching lanes, especially after her electrifying performances in the last few games.
Skip Bayless explains why Caitlin Clark plays ‘fearless’ basketball
Skip Bayless, being the keenly eyed analyst that he is, explained how Caitlin Clark‘s play has made him a fan. While discussing the WNBA sensation’s game, he said:
Caitlin has 53 more turnovers worse than anybody else. That's impossibly bad. And why do I forgive her? Because her turnovers are mostly attempts at spectacular passes. She is completely fearless. She is without basketball memory. She'll try it again and try it again......She keeps trying to be great.Skip Bayless said
He dissected the ‘forget the bad play and focus on the next’ mentality that the rookie has. That mentality had previously helped her to break records in the NCAA.
Now the same skillset is helping her break records in the WNBA. Clark’s style of play has been unlocked in order to mesh with the skills of her teammates—all in the process of winning games and solidifying their playoff hopes.
The Indiana Fever have 12 games left in the regular season, with a 13-15 record. After already matching last season’s win total, they are looking at finishing above .500—which will be a fantastic turnaround, considering they started their season 1-8.
