Kevin Durant gave his sweat and blood for Brooklyn Nets in the 2021-22 season. With no Kyrie Irving in the early stages and a depleted James Harden, KD managed to secure the top berth for Nets. But as the regular season progressed, Steve Nash’s team only kept on falling behind, showcasing the importance of the former MVP in their roster. More importantly his dominance on the offensive end.
After making their way past the play-in tournament, Kevin Durant could not help his team much against the Boston Celtics in the first-round of playoffs, as the latter team clean swept them. On the same note, there have been sensational news emerging that KD hasn’t spoken to his team ever since the exit. Colin Cowherd went onto emphasize upon it and elaborated why this particular action has been deemed ‘smart and shrewd.’
Has Kevin Durant fallen away from Brooklyn Nets?
On the latest episode of Herd with Colin Cowherd, the marquee analyst and host stated, “Do you ever see bad news, which is actually good news? KD and the Brooklyn Nets haven’t talked since first-round exit. Uh ho…that is bad news. He is outta there, nope, I think it’s the opposite.”
He added, “I think it’s great news for Brooklyn cause they have got some really smart people there. This is really shrewd, they are protecting Kevin Durant because now when they make a move on Kyrie, Kevin Durant can say ‘Bruh, did not talk to me?’
“Kevin Durant now has totally deniability in this situation. KD can be like, ‘Kyrie I don’t know what these guys are doing.’ This is nothing but Brooklyn taking one to protect Kevin Durant.”
Colin does raise a valid point, as KD was the leading scorer, playing his a** off for the Nets. Even if the management wants to part ways with Kyrie, Durant could at least keep himself out of the mud, in all situations.
Will we witness the flop-duoship of Irving and KD coming to an end before the start of the 2022-23 season? Or is Durant and Nets’ silence just reprobation of the painful playoff exit of the 2021-22 season? Remains to be seen in the coming seen what drama unfolds.
