COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ta'Kiya Young will be laid to rest this week.
The 21-year-old woman was shot dead by a Blendon Township police officer outside a Kroger store in Ohio on Aug. 24.
Young and her unborn baby later died. Young's obituary said she enjoyed working in customer service at Cedar Point.
She left behind two young sons.
Young's funeral service has been scheduled for Thursday at the Marlan Gary Funeral Home at the Chapel of Peace on Cleveland Avenue.
Visitation will start at 1 p.m. and the service will begin at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, protesters gathered at Goodale Park, reading out names of community members who had deadly encounters with police.
The group People's Justice Project is leading calls to release the names of the officers involved in Young's death, as well as demanding drug and alcohol screening for the officers involved.
On Friday, police released an officer body-camera video of the deadly encounter in the Kroger parking lot.
Columbus police told WSYX over the weekend that it supports people's right to protest peacefully.
