Man arrested following police chase in Caldwell

Caldwell, Idaho (CBS2) - A man is in jail on several charges following a police chase in Caldwell.

On Thursday night at 7pm, Caldwell Police officers began searching for a vehicle that had been involved in a road rage incident.

That incident began on the freeway and ended near Memorial Park.

Caldwell Police say a victim noticed someone was following him closely with his high beams on. The victim stopped near Memorial Park and the suspect got out of the vehicle and fired two shots at him. The victim was not hit by the gunfire.

Police say the suspect got back in his vehicle and tried to drive away.

Officers in the area tried to conduct a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle. The suspect didn't obey and a short chase took place from Memorial Park and ended near the intersection of Parkhurst Dr. and Sunset Avenue.

Police say the suspect got out of his vehicle and cooperated with police without incident. Officers recovered a loaded firearm at scene while arresting 58-year-old Anthony Taylor.

He is facing multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and eluding an officer.

Caldwell Police Chief Rex Ingraham released the following statement following the incident: “I want to commend these brave officers for their attention to duty, keen observation skills, and dedication to protecting and serving this community. Despite the frigid temperatures this evening, our men and women were conducting proactive police work and saved lives tonight. Mr. Taylor will be held accountable for his actions and we will ensure the Justice system does not fail our community.”
