IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Police found 52 pounds of meth and 27 pounds of cocaine early Saturday morning during a routine traffic stop on Highway 20, state officials said.
Just after 2 a.m. state police troopers pulled over a U-Haul van near Idaho Falls for not staying inside the lanes.
After pulling the U-Haul over, officials said that both the driver and passenger told police they didn't own the stuff inside the van. Police also found issues with the van's rental agreement.
Troopers used the driver's Honduras-issued passport to identify him as as 29-year-old Javier Varela-Vallecillo. The passenger was Texas-resident Felicia Inez Varela, 28, police officials said.
Officials called the Bonneville County K9 unit to the scene to help with their investigation of the U-Haul. During their search, police reported finding around 52 pounds of methamphetamine and 27 pounds of cocaine.
Both Varela and Varela-Vallecillo were booked at the Bonneville County Jail for trafficking meth and cocaine.
Varela-Vallecillo was also charged with failure to purchase a driver's license.
Police said that jail staff found 5 grams of meth on Felicia Varela after she was already booked at the jail, so she faces an additional charge of introducing methamphetamine into a correctional facility.
Officials say the street value of the drugs is around $1,000,000
